Andraste was always strong for her age, able to compete in games of athletics with men from early on. She wanted nothing more than to be an athlete, celebrated by her clan for feats of strength and endurance.
However, fate rarely is so kind.
Andraste’s father was the sworn protecter of the heirphant of Veneti and served with honor and stoicism since he was old enough to carry a sword. Raids of other tribes and incursions of Roman explorers left the man crippled at the age of fourty.
It was around this time that a particuarly brutal battle for iron was beginning to be waged with a neighboring clan. The clan made a clear threat to end the life of the Veneti Heriophant, and Andraste knew her aging father could not defend himself.
One night, just before the moon’s apex, the girl stole her father’s spear and sword and ran into the sacred glades. She donned the traditional blindfold to keep her blind to the workings of those closer to the Gods, as was required for her father’s post, and took on the silent vigil in his stead.
Years guarding over this post have left the woman with a pretenatural sense of her surroundings. The title of “invincible” was earned when Veneti was crushed by Rome and twenty armed men ran into the glades to hunt their leadership. Through sheer courage and keen senses, all twenty fell to Andraste’s spear.
